About Us
Hale Farm is located in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty adjacent to Wavering Down and Crook Peak on the western edge of Mendip. A Farm of varying sizes has existed on the same location since the 1300's.
My husband Chris and I came to Hale Farm in 1990, with the aim to live a "quieter life" away from the city (as well as continuing with our full time employment). But what to do with "Big Toot", a 4 acre field on a 1 in 1 slope, or so it seemed! Alf and Bee, two, North of England Mules, soon arrived, together with a borrowed ram (what a great way to get to know the neighbours!) and the rest as they say is history.
Today, Chris maintains a full time job as well as supporting our small holding activity which is now one of the larger farms in the Parish of Winscombe and Sandford. We farm around 75 acres, running North of England Mules, Texel and Charollais Tups, a small flock of practically feral Black Welsh Mountain sheep and locally bred Aberdeen Angus and Red Ruby Devon Cattle.
